Chinese Stir-Fried Asparagus

1 tsp. sesame oil
1 pound of asparagus, woody stems cut off and each cut into shorter pieces
1 T. soy sauce
1 T. water
1 tsp sugar
2 T. toasted, slivered almonds (optional)

Stir fry the asparagus in the oil for 3 minutes. Add the soy sauce and water and cook for 2 minutes. Add the sugar and cook another 30 sec. Top with the almonds and serve.
