Puerto Rican Beans & Rice

Approx. amounts---

2-3 cloves garlic
1 tsp oregano
1 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp salt
1 packet Sazon Seasoning (Goya)
1/2 tsp cumin (optional)
2-3 potatoes diced
1-2 T. Sofrito Seasoning Paste (must have!)
Goya tomato sauce
1 can Goya small red beans
(You could also add sliced Nathans or Hebrew brand hot dogs)
Note: the Sazon Seasoning, Sofrito Seasoning Paste, and Goya brands can be found in the International Foods Aisle.

Smash the garlic, oregano, salt, Sazon & cumin together until garlic is smooth (use a mortar & pestle). In a medium sauce pan, add a little olive oil, add smashed mixture, diced raw potatoes, 1-2 tablespoons Sofrito and saute for about 10 minutes. Then add one can of Goya small red beans undrained, 1/2 can of the Goya tomato sauce, and 1/2 can of water using the bean can. Simmer with lid 1 hour.

Rice: Goya or similar Spanish brand - cook per the Spanish style directions with a little olive oil and very tight lid undisturbed until done!
